Abstract

Leadership can be either a blessing or a curse. It is a blessing because leaders can make people’s lives better, but it is a curse because they can also make people become victims. Drawing on secondary sources, this review article aims to discuss issues concerning leaders and people. It begins by discussing people’s values. It then lays out five essential leadership skills for leaders to add value to people, focusing on valuing people, empathizing with people, serving people, developing people, and adding people. Finally, the article concludes that leaders must put people ahead of their personal glory if they want to become good leaders whom people want to follow.
